Let&#8217;s see what&#8217;s new.<\/p>\n<p>Hi folks! Even the sizzling summer can&#8217;t stop our groove. We&#8217;ve been busy mixing up some cool updates just for you!<\/p>\n<h2>Don&#8217;t follow redirects<\/h2>\n<p>By default, all the monitors are &#8220;following redirects&#8221; since the beginning of UptimeRobot. That means we check the final destination of the URL request. With this option it works like this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">You create a monitor, say for <code>http:\/\/example.com\/<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The Monitor&#8217;s request is being redirected from <code>http:\/\/example.com\/<\/code> to <code>https:\/\/example.com\/<\/code>, with status code \u201c301\u201d.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Monitor ends up on <code>https:\/\/example.com\/<\/code> with OK 200 status code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With this method, the monitor only perceives the &#8220;OK 200&#8221; response. However, this might not always be what you&#8217;re seeking.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why we\u2019ve added this handy feature to <a href=\"https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/website-monitoring\/?utm_source=uptimerobot.com&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=sla-sli-slo&amp;utm_content=intro\">HTTP<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/keyword-monitoring\/?utm_source=uptimerobot.com&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=smtp-monitoring&amp;utm_content=intro\">Keyword monitors<\/a>, available for all plans including the free one!<a href=\"https:\/\/uptimerobot.nolt.io\/23\"> Some of you were looking for this small tweak<\/a> too, so don&#8217;t hesitate to add and vote for features you would like to see implemented!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1457\" src=\"https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-25-at-16-48-29-Dashboard-UptimeRobot.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"843\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-25-at-16-48-29-Dashboard-UptimeRobot.png 843w, https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-25-at-16-48-29-Dashboard-UptimeRobot-300x61.png 300w, https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-25-at-16-48-29-Dashboard-UptimeRobot-768x157.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 843px) 100vw, 843px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Head over to the Advanced settings in the New\/Edit monitor screen, to turn off &#8220;Follow redirections&#8221; by simply un-checking the checkbox. This will lead to the following behavior:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">You create a monitor, say for <code>http:\/\/example.com\/<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The Monitor&#8217;s request is being redirected from <code>http:\/\/example.com\/<\/code> to <code>https:\/\/example.com\/<\/code>, with status code \u201c301\u201d.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Monitor request ends up with status code 301 and is not being redirected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Detect redirects with &#8220;Don&#8217;t follow&#8221; option<\/h3>\n<p>With &#8220;don&#8217;t follow redirects&#8221; enabled, you can easily catch any redirect being made. To do thus,\u00a0 make sure you have <strong>&#8220;Follow redirections&#8221; unchecked<\/strong>. Then go to the &#8220;Custom HTTP statuses&#8221; option and select &#8220;301&#8221; as a &#8220;Down&#8221; status code (or any other 3xx redirect status code).<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1458\" src=\"https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/monitor-status-codes.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"860\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/monitor-status-codes.png 860w, https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/monitor-status-codes-300x130.png 300w, https:\/\/uptimerobot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/monitor-status-codes-768x334.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>With this setting enabled, once we detect a redirect, we will open an incident and notify you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Secondary e-mail address for transactional emails<\/h2>\n<p>This feature was<a href=\"https:\/\/uptimerobot.nolt.io\/149\"> primarily requested<\/a> by users looking to send copies of invoices to their accounting departments.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it&#8217;s a breeze to add any email address that requires a invoice copy. Just make your way to &#8216;My settings&#8217;.
