We’re excited to announce a powerful new addition to your monitoring toolkit: DNS Monitoring is now available on UptimeRobot!

DNS (Domain Name System) is a core component of internet functionality. When DNS records are misconfigured, hijacked, or simply expire, they can lead to serious outages, broken email services, or even security risks. That’s why we’ve introduced DNS Monitoring – to help you stay in control of your domain’s health at all times.

What is DNS Monitoring?

UptimeRobot’s DNS Monitoring feature allows you to track specific DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, etc.) for any domain. You’ll be instantly alerted when:

  • A record is changed, or removed
  • Your domain is pointing to a different IP address
  • MX records are altered (potentially affecting email delivery)
  • Unexpected changes signal possible tampering or misconfiguration

This is especially useful for teams managing multiple domains, large infrastructures, or external DNS providers – because even a minor DNS change can have a major impact.

Why it Matters

DNS issues can be silent killers. Traditional uptime monitoring doesn’t always catch DNS misconfigurations until it’s too late. DNS Monitoring adds another layer of protection by catching problems before they lead to downtime or service disruptions.

Whether you’re managing critical web services, email infrastructure, or global CDN setups, DNS Monitoring gives you the confidence that your domain configuration is safe and intact.

How to Enable It

Getting started is easy:

  1. Log in to your UptimeRobot dashboard
  2. Click “Add Monitor” → Select “DNS Monitor”
  3. Enter the domain and the specific record(s) you’d like to track
  4. Choose your alert preferences – and that’s it!

You can monitor specific record types or all DNS records for a domain, and tailor your alerts based on what matters most to your team.

Available on Solo, Team, and Enterprise plans

DNS Monitoring is available starting today on Solo, Team, and Enterprise plans. Free and Legacy users can continue using UptimeRobot’s core monitoring features, while these paid plans unlock advanced capabilities – including DNS monitoring for better security and uptime assurance.

We’re continuously working to improve how you monitor and safeguard your online presence. With DNS Monitoring, UptimeRobot adds another essential piece to your monitoring strategy.
